Kate Jessop is mixed media film maker animator, combining hand crafted and new media techniques. Originally studying Illustration and making music, she started making films five years ago resulting in a Masters in Digital Animation in London. She learnt her craft working in Manchester with Comma Film, being produced by Ra Page. In 2007 she was included in the Best of Birds Eye View touring programme. In 2008 she won the Femme Fantastique award at the London Short Film Festival and was selected for the best of Women in Film and Television international touring programme, showcasing new female filmmaking talent. Her BBFC certified film ‘Desires’ was shortlisted for the 2008 Virgin Media Shorts prize, touring 212 independent UK cinemas and is now distributed through Shorts International.

Olive Branch woodland area (Colne Valley, West Pennines)
And what does this place conjure up in your imagination?
Whenever I go back to the woods in Olive Branch where I grew up I always feel reconnected with myself. The Pennine landscape has a way of realigning myself if ever I feel I have lost myself.
